The air cargo industry has been bustling with flower shipments as global demand surges for Valentineās Day. LATAM Cargo led the charge, transporting nearly 25,000 tons of flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to the U.S., operating over 420 flights with its fleet and additional freighters. Quito Airport also saw record exports, shipping 28,779 tonsāan 8.7% increase from last yearāthanks to efficient coordination among airlines, cargo handlers, and logistics providers.
Meanwhile, Challenge Handling in LiĆØge processed over 30 flights, moving 3,000 tons of flowers with its advanced cooling and sorting facilities. Miami International Airport, the primary U.S. hub for flower imports, projected handling 90,154 tons worth over $400 million, marking a 3% rise from last yearās peak. With robust logistics and growing demand, the air cargo sector continues to prove its critical role in the global floral supply chain.
